Digital Voice Recorder
Name: Digital Voice Recorder
Price range: $20 - $150 depending on brand and capability and recording time
Brand(s): Olympus (shown), RCA, Sony, Coby are the most popular brands
Where to buy: Most digital voice recorders can be purchased at your local Walmart or Target stores, although they can be found on eBay or Ghost-Mart (www.ghost-mart.com)

Uses: Digital voice recorders are used for EVP sessions or Electronic Voice Phenonemon sessions where disembodied voices can be recorded that are not heard at the time of recording. It can also be used to document knocking or banging sounds, noises that sound like footsteps when no one else is around. It helps validate paranormal phenonema.

Do you own this equipment? I recent purchased a digital voice recorder but have not captured any EVPs yet. I'm waiting for the time when I do capture some so that I can share them with the Ghost Hunter's team.

Electromagnetic Field Detector (EMF)
Name: Electromagentic Field Sensor
Price range: $12 - $150 Depending on brand and EMF vs ELF meters
Brand(s): Lutron EMF/ELF Electromagnetic Field Detector (Shown) but multiple meters/detectors are available depending on price range and functionality (e.g. K-II Delux EMF Meter, Sper Scientifc Digital, Dr. Gauss Master EMF Detector, Ghost Meter by Alternative Technologies, etc.)
Where to buy: I have found these meters on ghost-mart.com, eBay, and at a local ghost hunting shop

Uses: Senses fluctuations in electromagnetic fields in a given area. Can also be used to debunk claims of paranormal activity by detecting high electro-magnetic fields caused by power lines/grids which have been known to cause symptoms (according to Ghost Hunter co-founder Jason Hawes) of paranoia, skin irritation, nausea, etc. It is believed that a spirit or ghost entity can move close to an EMF meter causing fluctuations in readings, providing some data of paranormal activity.

Do you own this equipment? I recently purchased a K-II meter but have not used it yet .

Thermal Imaging Camera
Name: Thermal Imaging Camera
Price range: $9,000.00 (approximately)
Brand(s): FLIR ThermaCAM B2 - Thermal Imaging Camera
Where to buy: I have only seen this piece of equipment on ghost-mart.com

Uses: specialized camera used to register heat signatures or cold spots not due to human or animal activity. Gives credibility to paranormal activity as an entity trying to manifest itself.

Infrared Camera
Name: CCTV (Infrared Cameras)
Price range: approximately $1900.00 including camera, recorder, cables and distrution box
Brand(s): Sony, Samsung, and Geovision
Where to buy: I founds these at ghost-mart.com and at a local ghost hunting retailer shop

Uses: provides static night vision camera in areas of hot paranormal activity where mini DVs are not practical or where teams are not going to be during the entire investigation. Allows to capture phenomena in the dark and records to a hard drive or DVD.

Handheld Thermometer
Name: Thermometers
Price range: $30 - $200
Brand(s): Sper Scientific, General Tools, Raytek,
Where to buy: Ghost-mart.com, local ghost hunting retail stores, Walmart or Target stores, some hardware stores

Uses: Thermometers can detect fluctuations in temperature, as theory holds if an entity tries to manifest itself it will use the energy in the room, causing a cold spot, often as much as 10-20 degrees colder than the room temperature. This can be used in conjuction with EMF detectors and thermal imaging cameras.

K-II Meter
Name: K-II Deluxe EMF Meter
Price range: $79.99 on ghost-mart.com
Brand(s): K-II Deluxe EMF Meter
Where to buy: I found this meter on www.ghost-mart.com

Uses: Senses fluctuations in electromagnetic fields in a given area. Can also be used to debunk claims of paranormal activity by detecting high electro-magnetic fields caused by power lines/grids which have been known to cause symptoms (according to Ghost Hunter co-founder Jason Hawes) of paranoia, skin irritation, nausea, etc. It is believed that a spirit or ghost entity can move close to an EMF meter causing fluctuations in readings, providing some data of paranormal activity. Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson use this device to directly communicate with entities by asking yes/no questions and getting responses as seen on their Season 4 and 5 episodes.

Do you own this equipment? I just recently purchased a K-II Meter but have not used it yet.

Motion Detector
Name:
Price range:
Brand(s): Mini Alert Passive Infrared Motion Alarm
Where to buy: www.ghost-mart.com

Uses: Motion alarms are an excellent and indispensable tool for todays ghost hunter / paranormal
researcher. Motion alarms give a paranormal investigation team the ability to monitor many
different area of an investigation site without have to station video cameras and/or investigators
in every room. Each unit is like stationing another set of eyes giving you a higher likelihood of
isolating the most active area of the investigation site. This device is both an ear piercing
security alarm and a pleasant entry announcer. It employs the latest technology to prevent the
chime from continually sounding once it has been activated. The alarm will sound for one
minute and automatically reset itself if motion is no longer detected.

thanks for the information about equipment I would love to be able to afford it all !. I note your comments about the other programme as here in the UK we have a similar format where the presenters and their cohorts run about screaming if someones happens to feel anything its always the male co- presenter and is more about their ego and needy ness to be seen and heard than spiritual contact or learning how to make genuine contact

Wolfmots Would love to see an equip update. 0 May 21 2010, 12:25 PM EDT by Wolfmots

I've seen thermal cameras that cut out the noise so much that whats left is a clear thermal image, comparable to high def. Also the regular cameras that are used to film in the dark have been updated and show much greater detail. In the past i shopped for a good thermal camera and found one for around $7,500 that looked similar to a regular handheld camera and demonstrated a remarkable increase in picture quality.

Please dont go the route of the "other" ghost hunting show from another country that seems to only want to film themselves, running and screaming about while missing the actual content that they are there to document. If you dont mind we would love to have your team spend at least two days onsite documenting the times of each event so as to go back the second evening and place static cams/evp/emf together to document and hopefully capture events in greater detail.
A "camera trap" could even be setup to film entities that would like to be seen by setting up a television facing the target area that is plugged into a camera that films the target area. The team can demonstrate to the entities or even mark a square for them to stand in, while standing in the area they will hopefully see themselves on the tv screen and also have the opportunity to speak into the evp recorder placed near or in the marked box. This would be a huge step forward for ghost hunting and bring more interest to your show in my opinion, something that i believe only your team can pull off. If its something that is found to be more complex than you had anticipated then let me know and i'll gladly volunteer myself to put it together :D
